ME AS A PRODUCER
It all started in 2009 with watching the movie "The Matrix." In the soundtrack, "Clubbed to Death" by Rob Dugan, there's a classical piano piece that prompted me to pick up an old keyboard from my cousin that was stored in the garage and start plunking away at it. Through tutorials on YouTube and learning to play by ear, I managed to play this piano piece after a year. In 2010, I purchased a digital piano, which I still play on to this day. Comptine un autre d'été by Yann Thiersen and other piano classics followed.
In 2011, I realized I could connect my piano to the computer, and with GarageBand, I tried to enhance the piano's sound. When I fell deeply in love for the first time, I succeeded in translating my emotions into a melody. Since then, I knew that creating music was something I wanted to delve further into. Playing music on the piano became a direct translation of numerous emotions without comprehending the white and black keys, but rather feeling them. Over the years, I've written various compositions that I also want to share with all of you. The music of Ludovico Einaudi and Hans Zimmer has brought me much inspiration. A dream of mine is to compose music for a film.
Starting from 2014, I transitioned to Logic and spent 5 years experimenting with various styles alongside classical music, mainly focusing on hip-hop, reggae, and house. From 2019 onwards, I began listening to melodic techno and felt it was a match. Attending performances and parties within the techno genre filled me with an energy and connection I had never experienced before. After immersing myself in the creation of techno music for 4 years, my inner urge compels me to share it with the world. I remain deeply grateful that I can translate my emotions into classical and techno music, but it would be fantastic if I could also bring enjoyment to those around me and receive feedback to incorporate into future creations. The ambition to further grow in this field is substantial.
In the past years of attending countless raves, I've discovered that techno at around 155 bpm stimulates me the most. These raves have provided me with inspiration and insights into how music is constructed, leading to immense energetic moments. I've found that dancing and making music are an ideal combination for my creative process. Initially, I mainly created loops and short tracks, but through producing a lot and gaining a better understanding of Logic, I eventually managed to complete my first techno track named "Max" two years ago. With this track, I also began crafting a storyline, and since then, I've been trying to create conceptual stories based on my emotions and translate them into songs.
Over a span of 1.5 years, I completed four tracks that make up my first EP album titled "Nox Osculum." I've reached a point where I want these tracks to sound sonically excellent through various devices, but I'm still learning when it comes to mixing and mastering. That's why I've decided to collaborate with Martijn to finalize the four tracks and make them sound exactly as I envisioned. During this collaboration, I've learned so much and have become even more eager to immerse myself in music. I'm bursting with ideas, but for now, I can't dedicate as much time to music as I'd like to.
Regarding the content surrounding the music, cover art, and music video, I've collaborated with artists and friends, each contributing their unique identity, which has left me incredibly satisfied and looking forward to more collaborations. Thank you all!
With great enthusiasm, I'm thrilled to announce that a second EP album will be released in 2024 featuring classical music. Additionally, I'll continue attending raves and delving deeper into the techno genre. I have several techno tracks that I want to complete and share with you in the coming year. The next step is to perform these tracks in a live context for all of you. To be continued...
Muziek, een bundel van frequenties die energie dragen. Harten pompen, stemmen resoneren, gedachten dwalen, emoties voelen, zijnde frequenties. Muziek filtert de onnodige uit het hoofd. Voelen overstijgt denken in het moment. Vergeten zonder vernietiging. Helend en eindeloos. - DS
